Pilates, Bone Health & the Menopause

When taught by qualified teachers*, Pilates is recommended as a safe and effective exercise method for those with osteoporosis and osteopenia. Pilates can help:

  • condition the entire body to help build bone mass and improve muscle strength as well as improve skin strength and elasticity.
  • increase flexibility to improve balance and posture, so preventing falls.
  • promote relaxation and improve sleep through a range of stretching and breathing techniques.
  • release endorphins, the body’s feel-good chemicals, that can help counter depression.

I have a Level 3 qualification in Bone Health

  • Ensure good posture, coordination and balance.
  • Practise effective breathing and relaxation techniques to facilitate an increased feeling of wellbeing.

I always find Caroline's classes both stimulating and relaxing. She is a superb teacher with a sharp eye to spot how you can improve and a warmth that constantly encourages.

Sue, Fulwood

I feel very fortunate to have found a Pilates teacher as skilful, professional and genial as Caroline; her classes are still (nine years on) always a joy to attend.
